THE UNITY OF TWO TRADITIONAL THRONES: OVIE OF UDU KINGDOM PAYS ROYAL VISIT TO THE OBUZOR OF IBUSA

IBUSA – A memorable chapter in the annals of traditional leadership and cultural diplomacy unfolded on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, when His Royal Majesty, Engr. Michael Ogheneovo Orugbo, JP, KP, Okporua I, the esteemed Ovie of Udu Kingdom, paid a royal visit to His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Louis Chelunor Nwoboshi, the Obuzor of Ibusa. The warm reception took place at the Obuzor’s palace in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

This significant encounter united two distinguished custodians of culture and tradition whose wise leadership continues to promote peace, unity, and sustainable progress across their respective domains. The visit was characterised by genuine warmth, profound mutual respect, and a strong collective resolve to deepen the ties that bind the diverse communities of Delta State.

Beyond the ceremonial pomp, the royal engagement embodied timeless ideals of brotherhood, harmony, and the preservation of ancestral heritage signifying the crucial role traditional institutions play as pillars of unity, mediators of peaceful relations, and guardians of our rich cultural legacy for generations yet unborn. In an era of rapid change, such visits reaffirm the enduring relevance of traditional rulership in fostering social cohesion and community development.

Recall that a very distinguished son and titled chief of Ibusa community, Hon. (Chief) Innocent Ifeanyichukwu Esewezie, the current Executive Chairman of Oshimili North LGA, the Ugonwa Ibusa and Ezinwa Jiani Oshimili; was recently honoured and conferred with a chieftaincy title, OVI’OMO of Udu Kingdom, by Ovie of Udu Kingdom.

Present, in company of the Obuzor to receive the traditional stool of Udu kingdom were; Hon. Innocent Esewezie, the Obuzor-in-Council, Hon. Austin Nnabuife (Ojeogbue) and Comrade Barr. Sir Ifeanyi Nwaezeigwe.
