ESEWEZIE JOINS GOVERNOR OBOREVWORI TO WELCOME VICE PRESIDENT SHETTIMA TO DELTA STATE FOR ECONOMIC SUMMIT

ASABA — The Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Olorogun Innocent Esewezie, on Sunday joined other Local Government Council Chairmen and key stakeholders across Delta State in welcoming the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, to Asaba.

The Vice President arrived at the Asaba International Airport as part of activities leading to the 2026 Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, organised to strengthen the state’s investment profile and advance its economic development agenda.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside members of the State Executive Council, political leaders, senior government officials, traditional leaders and other distinguished guests, led the state’s delegation at the airport reception.
The summit, which commences on Monday, August 3, is bringing together investors, policymakers, financial institutions, development partners, industry leaders and other critical stakeholders to explore opportunities for investment, economic diversification and sustainable growth in Delta State.
Speaking on the significance of the summit, Olorogun Esewezie applauded Governor Oborevwori for providing purposeful leadership and pursuing policies aimed at strengthening the state’s economic foundation and creating an investment-friendly environment. He noted that the gathering of key economic stakeholders presented a strategic opportunity for Delta State to showcase its abundant human and natural resources, attract new investments and establish partnerships capable of generating employment and expanding economic opportunities for its people.
The Oshimili North Council Chairman expressed confidence that the deliberations and partnerships emerging from the summit would contribute meaningfully to the state’s development, particularly through increased private-sector participation, job creation, infrastructure development and improved livelihoods. Esewezie also reaffirmed the commitment of Oshimili North Local Government Area to supporting policies and programmes of both the Federal and Delta State Governments that are designed to promote inclusive economic growth and improve the welfare of citizens.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, describing their focus on economic expansion, infrastructure, human capital development and improved living standards as critical to building a more prosperous future for Nigerians and Deltans.
The arrival of Vice President Shettima and the warm reception accorded him in Asaba set the tone for the 2026 Delta State Economic and Investment Summit, as the state continues its drive to attract investments, deepen economic opportunities and position Delta as a competitive destination for business and sustainable development.
