OSHIMILI NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT SCALES BACK CURFEW IN IBUSA, IMPLEMENTS ADJUSTED RESTRICTION HOURS
PRESS RELEASE
4th June 2025
The Oshimili North Local Government Council hereby announces a revision of the security curfew in Ibusa, following a comprehensive assessment of the situation on the ground. The initial seven-day curfew, which had restricted movement from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, has been reviewed and adjusted.
Effective immediately, Wednesday, June 4, 2025, a new restriction of movement will apply from 9.30 PM to 6:00 AM daily for the next seven (7) days.
This decision follows a detailed security briefing held today at the Palace of the Obuzor of Ibusa, His Royal Majesty, Obi Professor L. C. Nwoboshi, by heads of the local security architecture. The briefing was attended by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ibusa, the Officer-in-Charge of the Nigerian Army Camp in Ibusa, leaders of the various community security units and the interim Executive Committee of Ibusa Youths.
At the instance of the Executive Chairman, who also serves as the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government Area, the security stakeholders presented a progress report outlining key achievements recorded during the curfew period. Among the highlights were:
- Multiple arrests of individuals linked to cult-related and other criminal activities.
- Transfer of suspects to the Special Anti-Cult Unit (SACU).
- Ongoing legal processing of several individuals who will soon be formally charged in court.
In response, the Obuzor-in-Council expressed deep appreciation to the Executive Chairman for his proactive and decisive leadership. The Obuzor-in-Council also extended gratitude to the security Agencies for their dedicated and unrelenting efforts to maintaining peace in the community.
The Oshimili North Local Government wishes to reassure residents of its unwavering commitment to the security of lives and property in Ibusa and the entire local government area. Citizens are urged to remain law-abiding, cooperate fully with law enforcement officers, and report any suspicious activities promptly.
Together, we can build a safer and more peaceful community.
