HON. INNOCENT ESEWEZIE ENGAGES DELTA STATE DSS LEADERSHIP IN STRATEGIC SECURITY CONSULTATIVE MEETING

AKWUKWU-IGBO: The Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, today, Thursday 11 February 2026, hosted a high-level delegation from the Department of State Services (DSS), Delta State Command, for a focused interactive security engagement at the Council headquarters in Akwukwu-Igbo.

The session convened key stakeholders, including traditional rulers and principal officers from various security agencies operating within the jurisdiction. Its primary objectives were to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the prevailing security environment and to reinforce multi-sectoral partnerships essential for upholding law and order, safeguarding lives and property, and promoting sustainable peace across Oshimili North.

Leading the DSS delegation, Deputy Director of Operations, Mr. Anthony Ifemeje, affirmed that the visit formed part of a deliberate outreach initiative by the State Command to strengthen grassroots-level collaboration. He emphasized that national security is a shared obligation, requiring active participation from all segments of society. The delegation actively solicited inputs, observations, and actionable recommendations from traditional institutions and security sector representatives, with particular focus on enhancing intelligence-sharing mechanisms, community vigilance, and proactive preventive strategies.

In his address, Hon. Chief Esewezie reiterated the strategic imperative of deepened inter-agency coordination and inclusive stakeholder engagement. He stressed that sustained synergy among security operatives, traditional leadership structures, and local government authorities remains indispensable for effectively mitigating emerging threats, addressing root causes of insecurity, and consolidating the gains already achieved in maintaining relative stability within the Local Government Area.
