HON. ESEWEZIE INAUGURATES COMMITTEE ON PROPOSED UGBOLU AUTONOMY

AKWUKWU-IGBO: Yesterday, Tuesday 26 August 2025, the Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Innocent Esewezie, inaugurated an 11-member committee to review the proposed autonomy of Ugbolu Community.

The committee is Chaired by Igwekani HRM (Capt.) Ifeanyi Clement Ejiofor (Rtd.), Obi of Ukala, with HRM Opili Odilile Paul, Onu of Ebu, serving as Co-Chairman.

While inaugurating the committee, Hon. Esewezie tasked members to:

Investigate the long-standing demand of Ugbolu Community for autonomy and the counter-position of Okpanam Community.

Collate and review claims, historical facts, and submissions from both sides.

Engage relevant stakeholders including community leaders, traditional rulers, and security agencies where necessary.

Submit a comprehensive report with recommendations to the Council for due consideration.

In his remarks, the Committee Chairman, HRM Ifeanyi Clement Ejiofor, commended Hon. Esewezie for his foresight and careful selection of credible individuals. He assured that the committee will uphold integrity, ensure fairness, and remain committed to truth and development, stressing that history will judge their actions.
