AKWUKWU-IGBO: On Friday, May 23, 2025, Akwukwu-Igbo witnessed a historic milestone as another groundbreaking ceremony was held under the leadership of Hon. Innocent Esewezie, in alignment with the PUTA-IFE M.O.R.E. Agenda for sustainable development in Oshimili North.

The foundation laying for the new Akwukwu-Igbo Modern Olie Market was officially performed by the APC Chairman of Oshimili North, Hon. Austin Nnabuife, much to the delight and excitement of the local community.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman of Oshimili North, Hon. Innocent Esewezie, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering more infrastructural projects. He specifically highlighted plans for the upgrade of Akwukwu-Igbo Primary School, located adjacent to the Akwukwu-Igbo Multipurpose Hall; an edifice built and commissioned by his administration in 2024.

The market when completed will consist of 80 lockup and open stalls, borehole and modern convenience facilities.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries including the Onwa of Akwukwu-Igbo, Chief Joseph Ikechukwu Iwegbu; the Omu of Akwukwu-Igbo, the Vice Chairman of Oshimili North, Amb. Uju Okolo; Hon. Sir Joe Ijeh, among others.
