… Stronger Coordination, Greater Mobility, Safer Communities

AKWUKWU-IGBO – The Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Olorogun Innocent Esewezie, has held a high-level security meeting on Wednesday August 12, with heads of various security agencies, Divisional Police Officers, the LGA Army Unit and local vigilante formations operating across the council area. The meeting focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination, professionalism, discipline and effective grassroots security operations. The State Commander of the Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), Amb. Dr. Jonathan Obokohwemu, also reiterated the need for NFSS personnel and local security operatives to strictly adhere to established rules of engagement, Standard Operating Procedures and proper coordination with statutory security agencies.

Following the meeting, Olorogun Esewezie inspected a parade of personnel of the Oshimili North Local Government Security Watch and charged them to remain disciplined, vigilant and committed to protecting lives and property. He emphasised that the confidence and resources entrusted to the Security Watch come with a responsibility to operate professionally, respect residents’ rights and work within the law. He further made it clear that misuse of firearms or any form of irresponsible conduct will not be tolerated, stressing that every operative must uphold the highest standards of discipline and accountability.

In a major boost to grassroots security operations, the Council Chairman thereafter presented motorcycles to Security Watch units across all communities in Oshimili North, including Akwukwu-Igbo, Atuma-Iga Aniwalo, Ebu, Ibusa, Illah, Okpanam, Ugbolu and Ukala. The motorcycles are intended to improve the mobility, accessibility and response capacity of personnel, enabling them to cover their areas more effectively and respond promptly to security concerns. He also announced the provision of a monthly stipends to all personnel in addition to the free registration under Delta State Contributory Healthcare Scheme already provided by his administration while assuring them of receiving first employment consideration under the State Policing Scheme when it becomes operational.

These initiatives further upscales the Hon. Innocent Esewezie’s administration’s commitment to strengthening community-based security structures and sustaining peace and public safety across Oshimili North.
