OBUZOR OF IBUSA HOSTS ASAGBA OF ASABA IN HISTORIC ROYAL VISIT
IBUSA, July 25, 2026 — The Obuzor of Igbuzo, His Royal Majesty, Obi (Prof.) Louis Chelunor Nwoboshi, warmly received the Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, SAN, OON, at his palace in Ibusa, in a historic royal visit that further strengthened the longstanding ties between the neighbouring kingdoms. The significant engagement brought together two highly revered traditional institutions in a remarkable demonstration of mutual respect, brotherhood and shared commitment to peace, unity and sustainable development.

The visit provided an opportunity for both royal fathers to reaffirm the enduring relationship between the people of Igbuzo and Asaba, while exploring avenues for deeper cooperation on matters of common interest, particularly those affecting their shared boundaries. Beyond its historical significance, the meeting underscored the important role of traditional institutions in preserving cultural heritage, promoting peaceful coexistence, fostering dialogue and strengthening the bonds that unite neighbouring communities.
Reacting to the royal engagement, the Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government, Olorogun Innocent Esewezie, applauded the historic meeting, describing it as a landmark demonstration of traditional diplomacy and exemplary leadership. He commended both monarchs for their commitment to peace and unity, noting that their harmonious relationship would create greater opportunities for socio-economic development, cultural exchange and stronger cooperation. He further expressed confidence that the renewed bond between the two royal fathers would serve as a model for sustained peace and accelerated development across the Oshimili area.
The royal visit concluded with goodwill exchanges and a renewed commitment to strengthening unity, preserving shared cultural values and advancing the collective interests of both kingdoms.
