Musa; representatives of the DSS and NSCDC; the Secretary to the Local Government, Comrade Austin Eloka Ajufo; the Director-General on Security, Pastor Ifeanyi Eze; the Special Assistant on Security, Gabriel Okojie, and other security officials.

Speaking during the meeting, the Delta State Commander of the NFSS, Oni Daniel Baba, formally introduced the organisation’s leadership to the Council Chairman and heads of security agencies operating in Oshimili North. He outlined the structure, operational framework, and mandate of the Service, emphasizing its responsibility for monitoring forests and ungoverned spaces, gathering intelligence, and preventing criminal activities within such environments. The State Commander further highlighted the organisation’s commitment to professionalism and discipline, noting that recruitment into the Service follows a stringent process. According to him, every prospective member must be recommended by a credible community leader capable of attesting to the individual’s character and integrity before admission. He warned against misconduct by operatives, directing that any member found engaging in unauthorized meetings, illegal activities, or actions contrary to the law should be arrested and prosecuted. He reaffirmed the commitment of the NFSS to lawful operations, accountability, and effective collaboration with sister security agencies in promoting public safety and national security.
In his response, Olorogun Innocent Esewezie welcomed the delegation and commended the Nigerian Forest Security Service for its role in supporting security efforts, particularly within forested areas often exploited by criminal elements. He assured the organisation of the local government’s support in carrying out its lawful responsibilities while stressing that all security activities must remain within the confines of the law and be undertaken in close collaboration with conventional security agencies. The Chairman further charged the Oshimili North leadership of the NFSS to sustain a cordial working relationship with the Police, Army, DSS, NSCDC, and other relevant institutions, noting that continuous synergy among security stakeholders remains critical to strengthening peace, security, and public confidence across the local government area.
