IBUSA: In a bold demonstration of proactive leadership and an unwavering commitment to public security and safety, the Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government, Hon. Chief Innocent Esewezie, on Friday, July 10, 2026, personally led the maiden “Operation Bush-Combing”, a coordinated security exercise aimed at identifying and dismantling criminal hideouts across the local government area.

The operation brought together a formidable multi-agency security team comprising the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigerian Army (NA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the newly inaugurated Oshimili North Security Watch (ONSW), National Forest Guard, local vigilantes, other security stakeholders, and patriotic youths from Ibusa Community.

For several hours, the joint security team combed identified flashpoints and thick forest areas where criminal elements had reportedly established hideouts. The operation was executed professionally, with all participating agencies working in seamless synergy to locate and dismantle identified camps while employing necessary security gadgets including drones.

Addressing journalists after the exercise, Hon. Esewezie reaffirmed that the operation marks the beginning of a sustained security campaign that will be extended to every community in Oshimili North. He stressed that no part of the local government would be left vulnerable to criminal activities.

The Chairman further assured residents that his administration remains resolute in protecting lives and property through intelligence-driven, preventive security measures. He declared that Oshimili North would remain hostile to criminality, making it increasingly difficult for criminals to establish or maintain a foothold within the council area.

The operation has attracted widespread commendation from residents and social media observers, many of whom described the Chairman’s decision to personally lead the exercise as a clear demonstration of courageous, people-centred leadership.
