PREAMBLE
Revenue acrueable to any government plays a very vital role in the development and implementation of policies, programs and projects. And for a local government administration to effectively implement such developmental programs, the council has to look beyond total reliance and sustenance on statutory allocations and begin to seek alternative sources of generating revenue internally. In the same breath also address issues of mismanagement and misappropriation of generated revenue while sealing off avenues of revenue leakages.

2️⃣ – BYELAW (Legislative)

And here comes the “OSHIMILI NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL (MISCELLANEOUS) REVENUE BYELAW 2022” which became Law on 31st January 2022.
The Revenue Byelaw provides for the establishment of Revenue Committee headed by the Executive Chairman; specific functions for members of the committee; miscellaneous revenue rates; and appointment/removal of revenue agents.

👉 As the Head of the Revenue Committee, Hon. Innocent Esewezie was on top of his game in monitoring Oshimili North IGR.
👉 Hon. Innocent Esewezie put structures in place to curb loopholes and leakages within the process.
👉 Hon. Innocent Esewezie ensured that all Revenue Managers were duly registered and accredited with Council
👉 Hon. Innocent Esewezie ensured that all revenue accruable to the local government were duly remitted into the Council’s account
👉 Hon. Innocent Esewezie ensured the revenue generated were properly channeled into infrastructural and human capital developmental projects
